Balancing Family, Life, Work & Health

My Thoughts On Balancing Family, Life, Work & Health

In the past two years, since I started my blog/business, I’ve truly gained an understanding of what it means to be a FreshMom. Balancing the many demands of being a working mom {and yes, I still have a full-time job} seemed daunting enough.

Then I added another layer. A side gig. A passion project. And a definite drain on my health.

Balancing Family, Life, Work & Health

The truth about balancing family, life, work & health…

This is really no different than anything else in life. You have to prioritize. And when it comes to remaining healthy, you have to choose. Make the conscious choice to make your health a priority and not allow self-care to be the last thing you do.

It really should be the first. After all, you’re no good to anyone without good health.

But how. When you have a million things to do and only one you, how do you get it all done while also keeping your health at the top of the priority list?

The best way to positively impact your health is to make healthier food choices and remain active.

I’ve resisted exercise for years, so I certainly struggle with the active part. But I know it’s important and I do work at getting some sort of exercise every day.

Just a daily walk around the block can do a world of good for my mind and body.

But activity alone won’t cut it, you have to also eat healthier and be mindful of what you are putting into the “tank” – because all fuel is not created equal.

Finding healthy foods for me and my family is one of my highest priorities. I want to be sure that we’re getting the nutrients we need, and foods that we enjoy.

And tasty is always a plus *wink*

The kids love the FreshKids pretzels. And eating healthy is a priority for them, because they’ve learned it from me. It’s so important for us moms to be the example for our kids to follow. Because they are always watching us and looking to us for how they should live.

We have an obligation to show them how it’s done. And balance our family, life, work & health with appropriate emphasis on staying healthy so they can pick up that great habit as well.

One of the main reasons I started my blog was to share my journey to hopefully inspire other moms and families. And it’s so important to balance and prioritize your health with everything else you’ve got on your plate.

  2. Prioritizing is the answer to everything. Making time for yourself is a big deal! Everyone has to make sure that in life, no matter how you’re going to affect your “to-do list”, you need to make time for YOU!!!

  5. Eating healthy is a great idea. I know that since my fiance moved in, my son and I have been eating much healthier. After I had my heart surgeries in 2012 (June and again in December), my fiance REALLY started cooking a lot healthier than before. I cannot do any exercise because of my back and hips, but I have cut down on the amount of food I eat at one time so I have lost about 30 pounds in the yas year or so. Between heart problems, back & hip problems, diabetes, high BP & triglycerides, osteoarthritis and several other things going on, at least I am still ticking, just not moving very fast anymore.

  8. Having an escape (like reading a book, or going for a walk) from the real world keeps me able to get up in the morning, knowing I will have some “me” time later
