This post is a part of the Behind the Scenes link up where we show you photos – but tell the real story behind them.
This photo was taken in April 2013, at our family photo shoot. The photographer, a friend of mine, had just told us to sit on the grass. She positioned us, snapped a few pics, and then took a moment to think of how she would re-position us. It had rained the few days before the photo shoot and I was wondering if the grass was still wet. It felt a little wet. I would’ve sworn it was soggy. So I said, “I think my buns are getting a little juicy!” And then we all started to laugh.
As she tried to get us to focus and continue with the shoot, we just kept busting out in laughter. It was so hard to keep a straight face and a ‘normal’ smile. Then my youngest started making funny faces. It was incredibly hard to stop the giggles at that point.
Laughter is Good for the Soul
I am so glad that she caught this picture of us during our laughs. It captures what I want my children to remember. It shows what I want my kids to be: happy. This was one of those moments that I would have formerly tried to control. Told the kids to stop, get it together, and do what we are supposed to do to take our pictures. Instead, I laughed. Hard, real hard. I enjoyed the moment. I let us get silly. I let us be a family. And I am glad that I did because these are the moments that make me. They remind me why I do this. They prove to me that it is all worth it in the end. They bring my life into focus.
I want to hear from you!
