I got sucked into a little profile hopping today. It happens from time to time when I am on Facebook updating my page or profile and I come across something interesting in the news feed – and then I’m off. Clicking on one profile and then the next; all based on the profile picture. Whenever I finish a profile hopping session, I think to myself what the profile picture really means. How important it is. And how many people take for granted that thousands of people are making a snap judgement of you based solely on your profile picture.
As I normally do when I get into deep thought on a subject, I Googled it; and came across this cool infographic from MyLife.com that describes the 10 most common profile pics and their meanings.

After reviewing the 10 most common profile pics, I wasn’t really sure which category my profile pic would fit into. I mean, I think it’s an excellent representation of me and is giving my social media contacts a great first impression. But, this isn’t about me (well, not what I think about myself anyway); it’s about you. It’s about what you think of me based solely on what you see in my profile picture.

If I was on social media, I’d choose one of my cats as my profile picture. Good thing I’m not.
Very interesting infographic! My profile pic doesn’t fit into any of those categories either.
